Winter can be a tricky season when it comes to dressing fashionably and functionally. To help you out, we decided to share some of our favourite winter fashion tips, as you shouldn't have to choose between staying warm or looking good!
Ben's Winter Tip: Layers are key to staying warm in the winter months, and the cherry on top is cozy pair of wool trousers!
Winter 2018 is in full swing, and with that comes freezing cold temperatures, blistering winds and blinding snow squalls. To many folks, winter also comes with the trade-off between staying warm or staying fashionable, but we're here to show you some ways around it. One of my favourite solutions to staying warm in the winter is a cozy pair of thick wool trousers. Not only do they keep you wrapped up in a warm material, but they also help cut down on gusty winds. Pair them with some long johns and a pair of wool or acrylic socks and you'll be laughing at all the freezing cold commuters on your way to work every morning.
What's the best part about wool trousers? They're an extremely versatile garment that can be worn in almost any setting. Headed to a meeting or an interview? Dress them up with a blazer or a sport jacket. Going out for drinks after work? Keep it simple by pairing them with a casual button down or sweater. If you're really feeling it, you can even go back to the basics with a tucked white t-shirt and some sneakers.
Regardless of the situation, there's never a bad time for some wool slacks. Make sure you stop by our design studio and get fitted for your own pair!
Jake's Suggestion: My winter staple is a classic sweater under my suit to keep me stylish, comfortable and warm!
With one of the coldest winters we have ever seen in Toronto, dressing warm has never been more important than it is now. Of course, dressing warm does not need to mean dressing down. The easiest way to look cool while staying warm is simply adding a sweater on top of your shirt and tie. There are many different options to choose from, whether it be your favourite V neck knitted number or that classic wool blend crew that keeps you cozy. Always remember that your sweater doesn't necessarily need to match your suit, but it does need to compliment it. Whether that means a grey with your finest black suit or a navy with your most daring burgundy is entirely up to you. The versatility offered by the sweater and suit is the number one reason why this look can kill it in the winter. You show up to work and it's a little warm in the office? Perfect, take off that blazer and rock your sweater for all to see. You need to step out for a second and grab lunch? On a milder day, the sweater allows you to skip the jacket all together for those quick runs around the block to get that almighty shawarma. One final thing to note when mixing sweaters into your wardrobe. Do NOT ever hang your sweaters by a hanger. Instead, fold them up and tuck them in a drawer or throw them on a shelf. This prevents the awful 'hanger shoulder' look that comes with hanging in a closet.
